Aaron and Natalie Sandoval have been called by God to lead a unique church planting effort in the heart of Madrid.
Both Aaron and Natalie were born into 3rd generation missionary families active in church planting and ministry leadership in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia. They grew up fully exposed and immersed in the realities of ministry and church planting.
Leading youth ministries, teaching, managing volunteer teams as well as being a part of volunteer staff in leadership roles in various churches in Latin America, North America and Europe have provided them with first-hand ministry leadership experience.
Aaron and Natalie’s talents and gifts in leadership, teaching and exhortation, along with an ability to provide momentum-building vision, have all formed part of the process of preparing them to lead a church planting team in Madrid.
Aaron and Natalie have two boys, Diego and Xabi, who love all things Real Madrid.
Aaron has a B.A. in Management from Dallas Baptist University, a Master’s in Public Communication from the prestigious Universidad de las Américas in Puebla, Mexico, and is working on a Master’s in Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Natalie graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in International Studies and Cultural Anthropology, focusing on the culture and language of Spanish-speaking countries.
Dr. Duane Alexander Miller is researcher and lecturer in Muslim-Christian relations. He holds a PhD in Divinity from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Alex and Sharon have been missionaries in the Middle East, including serving as founding academic dean of Nazareth Evangelical Theological Seminary (NETS). Alex has published numerous articles and books. He and Sharon were married in 2003 and have three children. The Light Madrid team is blessed by their gifts in evangelism, teaching and discipleship.
Tim and Michelle O'Brien both grew up in missions, in Mexico and Bolivia. They have served in youth, worship and evangelism/discipleship ministry in the U.S. and with Camino Global in Mexico. Tim has a masters from Dallas Theological Seminary and recently completed a masters in counseling from Cairn University. Together with their four children, their passion is to share the hope of God's love with others who are hurting.
Lewisville Campus Pastor, one community church
After leading a campus ministry as a student at the University of Maryland, Matt received his Master’s in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has served as the Director of Adult Ministries at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship under the leadership of Dr. Tony Evans. Matt has also served as Associate Pastor of Destiny Church in Fort Worth, Texas and at Keystone Church in Keller, Texas, where he led the Small Groups Ministry, Men’s Ministry and First Impressions Ministry. Connection is his passion, and he is focused on leading everyone to become passionate followers of Jesus. He has an amazing wife, Aneesah, and they have two beautiful daughters, Journey and Zoe.
CANADIAN MOBILIZATION SPECIALIST, NAMB
Chad grew up in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and Paris, France. His experience sharing Biblical truths with Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists comes from 30 years of developing cross-cultural friendships in urban contexts. He began ministering to Muslim friends through soccer in Ivory Coast and while attending high school in Paris, France. Chad and Shelly Vandiver led the North Africa team in Madrid, Spain during a pivotal time in Spanish history. While Shelly formed relationships with Spanish mothers, Chad served as an English instructor at one of the largest mosques in Western Europe. He has shared with Buddhist immigrants in the streets of Madrid, Spain and has witnessed to Hindus in corporate America. He is a specialist in relational evangelism among unreached people and has written curriculum for leading the local church to serve as a missionary to the unreached people living around them. He currently serves as the Canadian Mobilization Specialist for the North American Mission Board, encouraging the US churches to invest in church planting throughout Canada.
Fellowship Spring Hill Campus Pastor
Jeremy Hudson is the campus pastor of Fellowship Spring Hill; a campus of Fellowship Christian Church in Springfield, Ohio, focused on bringing hope and positive spiritual influence to one of the toughest neighborhoods in Springfield. Jeremy is also the founder and CEO of Mission Empowerment Group; an organization which offers consulting and logistical support to churches, schools, and organizations looking to mobilize people into outreach efforts around the world. Jeremy helps raise, build, train and lead teams for missional success through coaching and skill development.
Director of Missions and Church Planting for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention
Shane serves as the Director of Missions for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, which means he oversees the Missions and Church Planting departments. The Convention is made up of over 2,600 churches which is home to 1.2 million people. He and his wife, Kasi, reside in Rowlett, TX with their four children – Raygen, Harper, Titus, & Elliot. He has been in ministry for over 15 years as a church planter, lead pastor, associate pastor, and student pastor. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, a Master’s Degree in History, and a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling. Shane is also a traveling communicator & Bible teacher for many churches, student camps, revivals, rallies, retreats, schools, Disciple-Now retreats, conferences, banquets, panels, etc. He is also the author of a 60-day devotional titled, The Secret Place and the popular blog, called Already AM, which has over 1.83 million views. His articles have been picked up by RELEVANT, The Christian Post, The Gospel Coalition, CrossWalk, Church Leaders, The Baptist Press, FaithIt, HelloChristian, and many others.
J. Ronald Blue, PhD
A former missionary in Central American and Spain and president of CAM International (now Camino Global), Dr. J. Ronald Blue has traveled to more than fifty countries. He has served as professor and chair of the World Missions and Intercultural Studies department at Dallas Theological Seminary, and has helped launch the Seminary’s Spanish Doctor of Ministry program in conjunction with Seminario Teológico Centro Americano (SETECA) in Guatemala. He is the author of the book Evangelism and Missions.
Susan attended Florida Bible College, where she met her husband, Aubrey. He is a senior professor of leadership and pastoral ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary, where Susan has taught women's Bible studies for wives of seminary students. Susan served for over a decade in the area of recruitment of new missionaries at Camino Global (formerly CAM International). She currently serves with the Malphurs group, a church consulting firm. Her passion for missions, missionaries and ministry is deep.
